The color of your soul is.....

Having a group of children provides LOTS of fun times as a family, it also allows lots of experience in washing dishes, cleaning and laundry. Most people would think that there is never a time where all of these chores are done. However in my house everything is completed daily. I have over time found what works well for me and I hope you find that it works well for you.

Our children for the LONGEST time constantly forgot who's cup was who's. They could never tell who left their cup where and I was continuously loading and unloading the dishwasher. The laundry baskets were full of towels every day and wash clothes took on a life of their own on the floor of the bath tub. I found this to be a lot of unnecessary work for me after all six large towels is a full load of laundry.

It occurred to me while looking at a pack of wash clothes during a trip to Target that this set was of 7 different colors. It was then that I realized I could assign a COLOR to each child. While starring at the set and knowing my children's favorite colors I went over the colors several times double checking everyone was accounted for (most likely looking completely insane to everyone who passed by).

The children loved being involved in the planning of anything that included their favorite color. Oldest to youngest they went with... White, Yellow, Blue, Orange, Red and Pink. So during our next trip to the store we purchased the colors of wash clothes and towels that we didn't already have. We also purchased stick on hooks for the bathroom, allowing each child to properly hang their wash cloth. Then we continues the idea on to the kitchen purchasing breakfast bowls and cups. Once again Target had all of the colors readily available.

This COLOR Independence has given the children an easy way to identify their stuff. they are quick to clean up because they can no longer blame a sibling for their color. It has proven to be a GREAT idea and a wonderful experience.

6 kids with ONE bathroom!

Having 6 children with 2 of them being teenagers and only 2 bathrooms space for the kids to keep their bathroom items. What I have found that works really well for our family to keep us organized and save LOTS of space is an over the door shoe organizer. Its made out of canvas, with clear pockets, allowing everyone to see their items so they can be found easily. Its made up of 6 rows of 5, giving each of them their own row. What I like about this system the most is its easy for ALL age groups, putting away items used takes NO time at all and it keeps the older kids items such as razors away from little hands.

This ideal organizing item was around $10.oo at Target
Not having to CONSTANTLY put away kids items... PRICELESS

60 toes ~ Shoes for 6

It took me a little minute, okay the past few years to realize having 6 kids means your NOT the average family. It seems that my large family has do thing a bit different than the rest of the world. The children ranging from ages 5 to 14 kept their shoes in where else but their closet. These past few weeks had me reading everything I could get my hands on trying to make EVERYTHING at out house run smoother.
So I found these great multicolored plastic crates from Target and purchased one for each of them. Then lined them up by age, it took up NO space. For the kids. it worked out GREAT they can ALWAYS find their shoes and for the older girls they know WHO's shoes are WHO's (very important to a tween).
Total cost for making my life easier ~ $18
Able to FIND shoes for SIX ~ PRICELESS
